The Indian Trip Generation Manual is developed by CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) under the sponsorship of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) FBR Project. This manual provides guidelines for estimating trip generation rates for various land uses in urban areas. The manual was developed based on extensive data collection and analysis from 32 cities across India. The extensive data collection has been done with the help of eight academic institutes includes IIT Jammu, SPA Delhi, NIT Nagpur, SVNIT Surat, NIT Surthkal, NIT Tiruchirapalli, MNIT Bhopal and NIT Warangal. This manual serves as a useful resource for urban planners, transportation engineers, and other professionals involved in the planning and design of urban transportation systems in India.

The manual provides detailed information on the methodology used for trip generation, including the definition of various land uses, trip generation rates, and factors affecting trip generation. The land uses covered in the manual include residential, commercial, office, educational, and recreational facilities. The manual also provides guidance on data collection and analysis techniques, including household and non-household surveys.
